Absolute leads charitable giving at UMass Cancer Walk 2019.

Worcester, Massachusetts, (September 24, 2019) – For the thirteenth year, the Absolute Group of Companies (Absolute Machinery, Absolute Haitian and ARI) participated in the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Cancer Walk on September 22. The walk was held at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester. Fifty-four employees, family members and friends represented the team and raised nearly $37,000. A generous $25,000 donation from RPM Plastics, LLC (Statesville, NC), a company that often partners with Absolute, established the team as the #1 fund raiser for the 2019 UMass Cancer Center event and made this the group’s most successful walk ever.
Sarah Rizk, the team member who organizes the event for Absolute, was completely surprised when Nate Smith, one of the company’s owners, came to her with RPM’s check. “I immediately took it over to the UMass Cancer Center and the donation was announced on their social media channels. It was the largest single donation they received for this year’s walk.” Smith, along with Absolute’s CFO Craig Thornton, had worked with RPM on the logistics of the donation.
According to John Hobson, owner of RPM, their company has recently experienced the loss of family and close friends to cancer. “We enjoy a successful partnership with the Absolute Group of Companies and when we heard about the UMass Cancer Walk, we wanted to help in their support of this cause,” said Hobson. “We feel fortunate to be in a position to contribute and thank Absolute and our faithful customers for providing us this opportunity and the means to give back.”
“Since we started walking, we’ve raised around $140,000 in total donations,” said Rizk. The UMass Cancer Walk is a meaningful way for us to not only support the community but to stand with colleagues and family members we have lost to cancer. We are grateful for the support we received from our owners and many of our vendors, customers, employees, sales representatives, and, of course, RPM Plastics, LLC.”
